Keep your head down...

So I've not been too great with the blog updates, mainly because the site is now in Korean so it's pretty much a trial and error process.

I'm loving Korea so far. I've learned alot about myself, about life, etc in the past few weeks. But  won't get into that now. The main thing is, I've settled here and I know it's mostly due to the epic crowd of people I've fallen in with. My co-teachers are an amazing bunch and the friends I've made around Pyeongtaek are just as fantastic. I think this year is going to be one to remember, that's for sure! And not to sound like a sap, but I can't believe how lucky I've been with my school, and most importantly, my kids. What a cute, witty and smart bunch. The whole package is perfect for me, it's such a satisfying way of life. I'm still shocked on a daily basis by the low cost of living, it's great to know I can do, buy and go wherever I want, when I want.

The week before last ended with a cool night out with the girls to see 'Breaking Dawn' at the cinema - AMAZING! Followed by a chilled weekend getting settled in the flat and hanging out with Geordie Jess shopping and bantering on the Sunday. Then, through the week; it was trivia night on Tuesday and... we won! Couldn't believe it. It means we're hosting tomorrow night, should be a laugh! On Wednesday, my co-teachers and I took a trip to Songtan to watch one of our own, the fellow Scot, take on the Osan crowd (aka, American crowd) for comedy night. He blew them away, it was hilarious! This weekend was full of ups and downs, but thanks to good friends, and skyping with family, I got through it, and now it's time to get myself properly settled here in amazing South Korea.

Also, I like taking pictures of food more than anything else, so you've been warned...

Friday night dinner before the movies... I could live on galbi :)

Coffee and cake with Jess got Christmassy!

Tonight, it's time for a quiet night in preparing some trivia for tomorrow nights' quiz, then tomorrow... let the fun begin!

Tick Tack... !

My first week as an official teacher is in full swing, it's alot of work but the kids are so damn good, smart, cute, witty and amazing that it's more than okay. I'll be taking pics of my kids this week because they're one of the main things that's going to make this year awesome.

So, at the weekend, I took my first trip into Seoul and it was epic. It's such a cool place, and I finally found a record store where I could geek-out and satisfy my thirst for some k-pop in CD form.

Then, it was off to Monkey Beach where anything goes... they serve their cocktails in actual buckets and you can dance on the tables. Fun times.

After a hilarious night out in Seoul on the Saturday, it was time to chill and unpack on Sunday. I've finally made my apartment my own, and it's looking so cute! I didn't sleep well on Sunday night though, I was slightly terrified for my first day of teaching on the Monday, but I swear, people aren't lying when they say it's the kids that make the experience amazing. I don't know how the hell I'd have managed if they were anything like the kids back home, but the kids here know their manners. Even the tougher-to-handle students aren't so bad once you have them sussed, or that's what I'm hoping heh.

Today was day two, and it had it's ups and downs... some lessons tanked, others were great, but I guess that's how it goes. No partying tonight I'm afraid though, I need a night off! Roll on Friday, aka, girls night! Time to try out a Korean cinema (I'm sure I saw a sign advertising movies in 4D...) and obviously, we're going to see 'Breaking Dawn' ;)

Tick tack tick tack tick tack...

Breathe...!

It's all happening now! Finally received my visa last week, and my flights were booked by my boss this morning... Monday 21st November, departing from Glasgow airport at 1.05pm. Can't. Wait.

This past week has been pretty stressful, I won't deny it. I haven't spent my last month here wisely in terms of getting organised, I opted to sit around, watch TV, drink, sleep... forget banking, mobile phone contracts and packing up my room (properly). 'Packing' for me has been a case of staring at piles of hoarded crap and thinking about putting it in boxes before wandering off and doing something else. Poor show.

Anyway, all that stress of the past week has finally disappeared and been replaced with nothing but pure excitement. I'm sure the nerves will make an ugly appearance before the flight though. I hate flying. Maybe I should watch some Walking Dead on the plane since it's the only thing scarier than getting on a friggin' plane, take my mind off the 'flying' bit.

Before I wrap up this post, I'll tell you a bit about what most of my TV time consisted of this week: re-watching 'City Hunter' on DVD, a.k.a. one of the best K-dramas I've ever seen. It's basically 20 hours of Lee Min Ho kicking everyones ass and looking bloody fantastic while doing it. Time well spent, yes?

 Oh yeah :p

0330...

Thanks, stress.

The past 48 hours have been completely manic... yesterday I received an email from my agency saying that the job I thought was mine had been given to someone else who's already in Korea. Gah. THEN, I was given an interview with another school, which was this morning. About an hour ago, I was told I got the job! Now, I've never been a huge believer when it comes to the "everything happens for a reason" philosophy, but if anything is going to change my mind, it's this. The new position looks great, the wage is better and the apartment situation is sorted. Good times.

And instead of leaving a week after finishing my exams, at least I have a few extra work-free weeks at home before I head off.

*collective sigh of relief*...

U-Kiss - "Neverland (네버랜드)"

So I named my blog after this song as it represents my full-blown ADDICTION to k-pop. Mmmhmm. Just look at all that pretty...

Heh. Love it :p

Since I'm finally doing something interesting with my life...

… I figured a blog of some sort was in order.

The next few weeks will probably consist of erratic input, most likely revolving around one of the most stressful tasks any girl must face… packing a suitcase. And not for a holiday, but for a whole year! I suspect there will be a few tantrums in the near future.

So basically, in June this year, I decided that I’d like to move to South Korea. The whole process was pretty straight forward, gathering all the documents was more time consuming than anything else. I thought the actual job hunting would be the toughest part, but once I’d secured that all important interview, it all fell into place. I was offered a job last week in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do and I pretty much have around 4 weeks to finish up at my current job, get packed, say my goodbyes and make my way to South Korea. Not bad at all.

Anyway, I know myself well enough to know that I won’t keep a journal when I start my new adventure, but if I don’t record it somewhere, I know I’ll regret it. So here goes…
